Growth Mindset and Resilient Children Workshop
Wednesday November 2, 2016
7-8 pm
Glover School Cafetorium

As you’ve read in Mr. Ota’s weekly newsletters, and heard him describe at the welcome meeting at the   beginning of the year, this is a concept our teachers are presenting in their classes, and all Glover staff are supporting it school-wide. The Glover PTO invites you to this evening workshop where you will have the opportunity to learn Growth Mindset skills and tools to support your children at home.

What does it mean to pursue a Growth Mindset and Resilient Children? As parents, most of us want our     children to develop a strong sense of resiliency so that they willing accept challenges and persevere to    overcome obstacles. Carol Dweck’s seminal work on “Growth Mindset” helps children and adults take          control over their learning by understanding that success, intelligence and skill development is a result of increased effort, effective use of strategies and attention to feedback.

The PTO-sponsored workshop on November 2nd, will help parents:

Gain strategies to help foster a growth mindset in their children, and
Use thoughtful praise and responses when children succeed.

Earlier in the day, the Glover School Teaching Faculty will be attending the same workshop for their

Professional Development day. This is a great opportunity to reinforce and mirror the same message at home.

Please note, this is a parent-only event.

After the workshop, please join us for a parent social at Casa Corona at 33 Smith Street, Marblehead
where you’ll be able to meet and socialize with other parents!
